This Gucci dress from the Spring/Summer 1997 collection by Tom Ford is cut in a knee-length silhouette with a backless halter neckline. This prototype is constructed from maroon ombré velvet with a draped cowl front secured with a metal chain strap at the neck. A variation of this design appeared on the runway modeled by Stella Tennant. The same design was worn by Carolyn Murphy to the CFDA Awards and modeled by Danielle Zinaich for Harpers Bazaar US May 1997.
