From the Spring/Summer 1996 collection, this gorgeous black Dolce & Gabbana maxi dress debuted on the season's runway, modeled by Kirsty Hume. This nearly floor-length gown features short sleeves, high slits on either side, and is made complete with an oversized cowl neck that doubles as a hood. The idea for this collection was found in the timeless style of Monica Vitti in the 1960 Italian classic film, L'Aventura. The resulting Italian summer looks were described by Stefano and Domenico as "the Sicilian holiday of a glamorous socialite. She's going shopping with a headscarf and a basket, in a long black tabard dress, or a tiger-stripe or leopard-spot beach caftan."
